Did you know that volunteering just one hour of your time at Ozarks Food Harvest in Springfield, Missouri helps to provide 105 meals to individuals in need? Ozarks Food Harvest is the only food bank in southwest Missouri, serving more than 200 nonprofit members across 28 Ozarks counties. The Food Bank reaches more than 20,000 individuals weekly and distributes one million pounds of food monthly —this would not be possible without generous volunteers like YOU!
Whether you can give a few hours monthly, or commit to a weekly schedule, your gift of time helps Transform Hunger into Hope for families in need. Due to limited space, please schedule all sessions in advance.
Individuals & groups are welcome! Volunteer groups require confirmation of exact number of volunteers attending at least one week prior to the scheduled session.
Individual youth volunteers ages 12 - 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Youth groups require one adult for every 5 youth. Please inquire about special sessions or projects for youth.
Processing donations during weekday Sort & Repack projects are key to Ozarks Food Harvest’s distribution of 10 million meals annually. Sort & Repack projects involve checking expiration dates, sorting like items, and repacking for distribution. Food safety training is provided at the beginning of the session.
Tuesday – Friday: 9 am–12 pm & Monday – Thursday: 1–4 pm Weekday sessions are the most difficult to fill but critical for The Food Banks distribution. Volunteers are especially needed during afternoon sessions. Individuals ages 12+ and groups up to 20 volunteers are welcome. Weekly commitments are greatly appreciated.
Evening & Weekend opportunities In addition to donation inspection, evening and weekend volunteer projects include assembly projects. Ozarks Food Harvest distributes 55,000 Weekend Backpacks for at-risk students and 25,000 Senior Food Boxes each year—all assembled solely by volunteers. Assembly projects rely on large groups and full sessions. Individuals 12+ and groups welcome! Volunteer projects are scheduled as needed for distribution; specific project requests are not accepted.
Tuesday & Thursday Evenings: 6–9 pm (ages 12+, 25 openings per session)
Saturday Sessions: 9 am–12 pm OR 1–4 pm (ages 12+, 25 openings per session)
