Harvest on Wheels (HOW) collects and transports food donated by generous farmers, gardeners and other caring neighbors to local hunger relief agencies. In the past two years, HOW has collected nearly 60,000 lbs. of fresh produce and nonperishable food items and more than $5,000 for Ozarks Food Harvest’s Network and its member agency, The Kitchen, in Springfield.
Here’s how YOU can help provide nutritious food to people in need:
Participate in the Corn Roast on Saturday, July 30, or the Soup Cook-off on Saturday, October 15—both at the Greater Springfield Farmers’ Market. Call Linda at (417) 866-6393 for more information.
Serve as a HOW Collection Site, or pick up and deliver donations to Ozarks Food Harvest by contacting Vicky Trippe, Collection Site Coordinator, at (417) 865-6333.
Buy an extra bag of produce at the Greater Springfield Farmers' Market in the Battlefield Mall parking and donate it at the Harvest on Wheels booth—their volunteers will deliver it to The Food Bank for you! You are also welcome to donate other food items not necessarily purchased at the Farmers' Market.
